\nPrairie Midwives is looking for a full time general registrant to share our love of midwifery in the
\n\u2018rural\/urban\u2019 city of Red Deer. Red Deer is situated in the middle of Central Alberta, about 90
\nminutes between both the urban centers of Calgary and Edmonton, and only 2 hours from the
\nbeautiful Rocky Mountains. Our population is about 100,000 people. We serve communities
\noutside of Red Deer, however our catchment is generally within a 30 minute radius. Some travel
\nis required.
\nPrairie Midwives has been an established practice since 2012, we have grown steadily for the
\nlast 10 years and are looking for an 8th midwife to join our team. Our clinic is located in an easy,
\ncentral location, right downtown and we are the only midwifery practice in the city. We are a
\nclose knit group of women, dedicated to our craft. We have a combination of primary call
\nmidwives and shared call midwives. We are currently looking for a midwife to provide shared
\ncall with a partner to manage a caseload of 80 courses of care per year. Starting date is July 1,
\n2022 but is negotiable. Our midwives hold privileges primarily at the Red Deer Regional
\nHospital Centre, where we have been welcomed as part of the healthcare team. It is a level II
\nhospital with access to specialties when needed, and we do provide waterbirth services in our
\nhospital. We have excellent relationships with our fellow care providers and work well in
\nmulti-disciplinary teams, when required. We would also love to highlight our high homebirth rate
\nof at least 40-50% of all births.
\nThe successful candidate will require a strong work ethic and firmly seated passion in delivering
\nmidwifery care. We are incredibly proud of our workplace culture that fosters supportive care for
\nboth clients and midwives, and anyone that joins our practice would have to have excellent
\ninterpersonal communication skills and a commitment to meeting and working within our vision.
\nYou must be able to work as a Registered Midwife in Alberta, and have all certifications as per
\nthe CMA, privileging through AHS, and membership and practice insurance with the AAM in
\norder to be a successful applicant. We are seeking a commitment of at least one year, but would
