General Registrant Position
\nStart Date: Summer\/Fall
\nCountryside Midwives is a dynamic rural practice looking for a General Registrant to join our
\nteam of 16 midwives. This position is flexible on clinic location as well as model; whether shared
\nor primary. Our budget allows for a full-time caseload (40 CC\/fiscal year). The desired caseload
\nand model can be discussed with the chosen candidate. We strive to create a manageable
\nwork\/life balance while still focusing on providing excellent continuity of care to our clients.
\nOur practice covers a large catchment area, with 3 hospital corporations for privileges. Our level
\n2 hospital is Stratford, and we attend births in Listowel and North\/Central Wellington as well.
\nDue to hospital policy is it a requirement that the chosen candidate be fully vaccinated for
\nCOVID-19 to obtain privileges at all hospitals.
\nWe have two clinic locations in Milverton and Palmerston; as well as a space available for use in
\nMount Forest. We use an EMR system (Accuro) and have excellent support of a lovely
\nadministrative team.
\nOur homebirth rate is about 50%. Our scope includes managing epidurals, and we often do
\nmidwifery led induction techniques, so our medical induction rate is low, but does require a
\ntransfer of care. We are very supportive of clients planning VBAC and continue to advocate
\nstrongly for vaginal breech as well.
\nAt Countryside, many of our clients have some connection to the Anabaptist Community with
\nMennonite and Amish backgrounds, as well as clients who are highly motivated to have
\nunmedicated births. We offer home visits for our clients that experience barriers to
\ntransportation and enjoy being welcomed into homes where the opportunity may have not come
\notherwise.
\nIn our community, there is a lot to explore and discover. Stratford has a busy artistic community,
\nand there any many organic farms throughout the area that sell to the public. You are a short
\ndrive away for a larger city in Kitchener-Waterloo, and the beach on the shores of Lake Huron.
\nThe ideal candidate will have an interest in rural midwifery that serves a large Anabaptist
\ncommunity, and feel comfortable with both herbal and conventional treatments.
