As an autonomous practitioner, the Midwife is the most responsible provider for a case load of clients and works collaboratively with other practitioners and healthcare providers. This position functions in association with interdisciplinary primary health teams in Yellowknife and within an integrated territorial women and children\u2019s health team. The Midwife provides continuity of care within the context of a small team of midwives and ensures coordinated delivery of care within an integrated network of community, regional, and territorial health services.<\/p>\n The Midwife will provide care to clients living in remote communities through virtual means, travel clinics and late pregnancy plus intrapartum care for these clients when they relocate to Yellowknife at the end of pregnancy.\u00a0 The incumbent will also have a small caseload of clients who live in Yellowknife and will support the Midwife Hospitalist program.\u00a0 The group of 4 midwives will be expected to provide 24\/7 on call services with support from the Territorial Manager and Territorial Specialist.\u00a0 Hospital births will be managed by the on-call midwife with the assistance of nursing staff.<\/p>\n There are currently two (2) positions available in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.<\/p>\n Typically this position requires a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Midwifery (Health Sciences) or assessed through a Prior Learning and Experience Assessment (PLEA) program within a Canadian province, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in delivering midwifery care as a primary care provider<\/p>\n What are the Benefits?<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to highly competitive salaries, the Northwest Territories offers a Northern Living Allowance ($3,700 for Yellowknife), health and dental benefits, a generous pension plan, and outstanding leave benefits including deferred leave options.
