Background
Huckleberry Midwives is an Indigenous led midwifery team offering culturally relevant full spectrum urban Indigenous midwifery care on the unceded territories of the x\u02b7m\u0259\u03b8k\u02b7\u0259y\u0313\u0259m (Musqueam), S\u1e35wx\u0331w\u00fa7mesh (Squamish), and s\u0259lilw\u0259ta\u026c (Tsleil-Waututh) known as Vancouver. Over the last three years we have built a team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous\/Setter midwives. Our work is always Indigenous led, informed, and guided and we hope to find another Indigenous midwife to come into a leadership role on our team.<\/p>\n
Job description
Ideally we are looking for an Indigenous midwife (preference given to midwives from B.C. First Nations) who is interested in a permanent or long-term full-time position, but are flexible to negotiation. Currently, our schedule offers a mix of shorter call stretches 48-72 hours and a week off every month. We have 3 clinic days a week, typically 9-4pm. Our team meets biweekly for case reviews and team planning.<\/p>\n
Hospital privileges
Our privileges are held at BC Women\u2019s Hospital (Level 1) with specialized recognition for our role in Urban Indigenous Midwifery Outreach Program (UIMOP) which includes additional Out of catchment exceptions.
