As an autonomous practitioner, the incumbent is identified as the most responsible provider for a case load of clients and works collaboratively with other practitioners and healthcare providers. The position functions in association with interdisciplinary primary health teams in Yellowknife and within an integrated territorial women and children\u2019s health team. The position provides continuity of care within the building and among other health care providers in the communities.\u00a0 Complete courses of midwifery care from conception through birth and postpartum will be provided to clients who live in Yellowknife and Fort Smith. The incumbent will also contribute to the development of the Territorial Midwifery Program.<\/p>\n Currently we have Term, Indeterminate, and casual job opportunities available in Fort Smith and Yellowknife.<\/p>\n Typically, this position requires a bachelor\u2019s degree in Midwifery (Health Sciences) or assessed through a Prior Learning and Experience Assessment (PLEA) program within a Canadian province, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in delivering midwifery care as a primary care provider<\/p>\n What are the Benefits?<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to highly competitive salaries, the Northwest Territories offers a Labour Market Supplement upon hire with an additional payment after the first year of employment ($6,000 for Fort Smith and $5,000 for Yellowknife), an annual Northern Living Allowance ($7,374 for Fort Smith and $3,700 for Yellowknife), health and dental benefits, a generous pension plan, and outstanding leave benefits including deferred leave options.
