Salary Range:\u00a0 $105,580 – $124,212<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Riverdale Community Health Centre is a non-profit, multi-service organization that provides primary healthcare, social and community outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention primarily to people of East Toronto. Our mission is to improve the lives of people that face barriers to physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being. We do so by meaningfully engaging our clients and communities, ensuring equitable access to primary health care and delivering quality care through a range of evidence informed programs, services and approaches. As a leader in community health, our locally and internationally recognized community services include cutting-edge primary health services, health promotion, harm reduction, environmental health, community food centre and population-based community programs for marginalized peoples. The Midwifery and Toronto Community Health (MATCH) Program at South Riverdale Community Health Centre (SRCHC) is seeking a full-time, permanent addition to our midwifery team (Staff Midwife). With this expansion of our program, and given the various areas of clinical services our team provides, we plan to structure the new team of 6 as follows in order to best suit the needs of our clients as well as to support key areas of interest for the midwives:<\/p>\n

\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Early Pregnancy Team (4RMs): will staff the Early Pregnancy Clinic at MGH, conduct T1 and T2 prenatal visits for our complete pregnancy care clients, attend births in the role of backup midwife, and provide abortion and early pregnancy loss care in the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Intrapartum Focused Team (2RMs): will provide third trimester prenatal care, labour and birth care in the role of MRP, and postpartum care to complete pregnancy care clients to clients with complex care needs.<\/p>\n

At this time, we are seeking a midwife to join the intrapartum team.\u00a0 This position is ideal for someone with a keen interest in birth work who is looking for a collaborative work style as part of a close-knit team within a salaried, employee model.<\/p>\n

Group\/Practice Profile:<\/strong><\/p>\n

MATCH is a midwife-led reproductive health care program funded through the EMCM stream by the Ministry of Health, providing services as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team at SRCHC. MATCH provides complete reproductive and sexual healthcare, including obstetrical services (prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care), abortion services (medication abortion, and referral pathways for surgical and second trimester terminations) and first trimester pregnancy loss care.\u00a0 We also provide care for pregnant people who use drugs through our Substance Use in Pregnancy Pathway (MATCH SUPP). Our midwives staff the Early Pregnancy Clinic at Michael Garron Hospital in collaboration with our obstetric colleagues. We work in East Toronto, on Treaty 13 territory which was established between the Mississauga’s of Credit River of the Anishinaabek Nation and the British Crown.<\/p>\n

Position Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is an employee, salaried, permanent position.\u00a0Our team works in a shared call, highly collaborative model. We provide regular time off call and value healthy work-life balance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our team prioritizes clients with complex needs and co-morbidities and includes expanded scope work in collaboration with non-midwifery providers so our birth volumes are lower than a typical MPG caseload. This new role will have a stronger focus on prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care and may have less focus or exposure to abortion and early pregnancy loss management work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We have excellent support from our leadership team at SRCHC and excellent working relationships with our non-midwife colleagues in the Centre as well as the various care teams at Michael Garron Hospital. We have a highly supportive and collaborative, small midwifery team and will provide support, training and mentorship as needed to the successful candidate.<\/p>\n

We are a teaching practice and regularly offer 3rd year, interprofessional student placements for students from Toronto Metropolitan University and occasionally work in supporting students from other disciplines (such as Social Work or nursing).<\/p>\n

This is an excellent opportunity for midwives interested in expanding their scope\/knowledge related to substance use in pregnancy, issues facing non-insured clients, LGBTQ+ clients, supporting clients experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, and clients navigating the child welfare system. Our team is deeply embedded in local networks of frontline providers and engaged in regular systems-change work related to improving equity and healthcare access. Our team supports midwives in pursuing non-clinical systems-change\/committee work relevant to their interests and our team\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n
