West Hill Midwifery in Prince George, BC is actively recruiting for a midwife to join our busy practice.\u00a0 We are currently a practice of four midwives who are seeking an additional 1 or 2 midwives to join the team and meet the demand for midwifery care in our community.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Prince George is the regional centre for the North with a population of around 74,000. We benefit from a variety of shops, restaurants and leisure activities. Life often centres around the outdoors with our own ski hill, cross country skiing centre, hiking trails, lakes for swimming, fishing and boating. There is also an active arts scene and the CN centre hosts big name concerts and shows. We are only a 75 minute flight to Vancouver, Victoria and Calgary for when the big city calls…\u00a0 Prince George is a very affordable city to live with average house prices under $500,000.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
UHNBC offers a modern facility with very supportive midwifery, medical and nursing colleagues. There is 24-hour coverage from obstetric, pediatric and anesthesia specialists. The hospital has integrated waterbirth and we have a 20 percent home birth rate. Our nurses are very supportive of physiological birth. Demand for midwifery care is high in Prince George, we have many repeat clients with waitlists every month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We are open to a variety of team models, various call schedules and fair compensation with minimal overhead. \u00a0 As a practice, we mentor students, seek out teaching and learning opportunities, support the expansion of midwifery in the north and support our midwives to pursue a healthy work\/life balance.\u00a0 The practice is supportive of midwives in attaining their personal or professional goals.<\/p>\n
We welcome experienced and newly registered midwives to apply. Prince George is a great place to regain your passion for normal birth or consolidate your skills as a new registrant. Rural experience is an advantage.\u00a0 The ideal candidate would have good organizational skills, a strong work ethic and be familiar with\/willing to learn OSCAR EMR. We have excellent administrative support from our 2 MOA\u2019s who work from home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
