This is a 0.75 FTE position.<\/p>\n<p><em>This position is open to both internal and external candidates.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre (OBWC) is a midwife-led Birth Centre funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health (MOH).\u00a0 It is a not-for-profit organization that provides a broad range of maternal and infant services to pregnant people, newborns, and their families in the Ottawa area.<\/p>\n<p>The OBWC is currently recruiting a bilingual Clinical Lead Midwife (CLM) for a 2-year contract, with the possibility of a 2-year extension.<\/p>\n<p>The CLM is designated as the Quality Advisor to the OBWC in accordance with the requirements of the Integrated Community Health Services Centres Act, the College of Midwives of Ontario (CMO), and the Ministry of Health (MOH). The CLM must maintain their Active Practice designation with the College of Midwives of Ontario as per the Integrated Community Health Services Centres Act (ICHSCA).<\/p>\n<p>The CLM chairs and prepares all relevant documents for the Quality Advisory Committee and participates as a staff resource for the OBWC Board of Directors. The primary role of the CLM is to manage and refine the OBWC\u2019s quality management program that safeguards high standards of care and supports continuous improvement in the delivery of clinical services to OBWC clients and their families.<\/p>\n<p>The CLM reports to the Executive Director and serves as a member of the OBWC senior management team, working in collaboration with others to create an environment of quality service and safety.<\/p>\n<p>The CLM provides clinical leadership and management of OBWC clinical programs, services, and activities.\u00a0 The CLM ensures that there are appropriately appointed, clinically trained and oriented midwives, midwifery students, health care professionals, and staff along with the Lead Midwife.<\/p>\n<p>The CLM shares on-call responsibilities with the Lead midwife.\u00a0 On-call duties involve responding to Birth Centre Aide and Midwife questions and pages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor of Science degree in midwifery, or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of five years\u2019 experience in midwifery.<\/li>\n<li>Active practice registration status (CMO) and membership in the Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM).<\/li>\n<li>Current certification in CPR, NRP and Emergency Skills.<\/li>\n<li>No conditions on certificate of CMO registration.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent midwifery clinical knowledge and skills.<\/li>\n<li>Leadership and management experience.<\/li>\n<li>Current Police Record Check.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with quality management programs and current knowledge of best practices in quality management.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead and motivate individuals, delegate work, set priorities, anticipate and resolve operations issues.<\/li>\n<li>Adept at establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships with a wide range of health care professionals and institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of regional and provincial health care system.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated excellence in leadership and collaborative skills.<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional judgment, tact and discretion.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent conflict resolution skills.<\/li>\n<li>All OBWC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against covid-19, subject to medical or other exemptions under the Ontario Human Rights Code<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A detailed job description of the Quality Advisor role under the Facility Standards can be found within the Facility Standards and Clinical Practice Parameters. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>$93,330-$100,320 per annum.
