We are an established midwifery practice in the Cowichan Valley. We work as a team of three and provide prenatal, intrapartum and post partum care. We offer home and hospital births. We hold privileges at Cowichan District Hospital and are very lucky to have a super supportive physician, nursing and Obstetrics team locally. Our practice has approximately a 15% home birth rate.<\/p>\n
Our team takes about 9 EDDs per month between the three of us.<\/p>\n
We have a cozy little practice in down town Duncan with an amazing MOA who is available for help Monday through Friday and is present for the clinic days which are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We are seeking locum coverage using the RLMP (Rural Locum Midwifery Program) which is funded generously and offers reimbursement for accommodation and meals as well as the per day rate. Each of us three RMs has 15 days of RLMP to use.<\/p>\n

We are hoping for some coverage in the summer (July and August 2025) with interest in a long weekend at the end of September, some cover in October and potentially in February 2026. Our preferred candidate would be registered to practice in BC and would be able to apply for locum privileges at CDH in the near future. This process is faster for RMs who hold other privileges at Island Health, otherwise it can take up to 8 weeks to process. Priority given to experienced providers, and those who have previously worked rurally.<\/p>\n
In an ideal world, we might find a midwife who is into covering for our practice multiple locums and in this way would be able to build relationships and continuity with our clients. If you are only interested in specific dates, please still apply and we can discuss.<\/p>\n
The Cowichan Valley is absolutely beautiful, and in your time off you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, swimming in lakes, river and the ocean. There are also wonderful markets, wineries, restaurants and much more to explore.\u00a0<\/p>\n
