OVERVIEW OF ORGANIZATION
The Midwifery Council of New Brunswick (MCNB) is the governing and regulatory body that
oversees the registration and practice of midwifery in the province. The Midwifery Act was proclaimed in 2010 followed by the implementation of the first Midwifery Centre in Fredericton, NB in 2017. The Council is an interdisciplinary government appointed membership with the mandate to protect the public by setting policies and standards of professional practice for Registered Midwives to deliver safe, ethical, and effective care.<\/p>\n
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Executive Director\/Registrar is responsible for the overall functioning of the organization and must be comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and balancing multiple priorities.
– Part time permanent – 3 days per week flexible schedule (= 22.5 hours per week)
– Location: remote in NB – Work from home
– Liaise with Government, Regional Health Authorities, New Brunswick health regulators
network, Midwives Association of NB, First Nations communities and others who engage in
the work of midwifery.
– Accountable to Government and required reporting.<\/p>\n
Dual role – duties of the executive director
– The Executive Director is responsible for leading the Council in fulfilling their statutory
responsibilities and implementing strategic goals as directed by the Council.
– Reports to the Chair and accountable to Council
– Strategic management, risk management and operational management
– Responsible for the planning, preparation and follow-up actions of both Council and
Committee meetings by way of producing agendas, minutes, annual report, budget and
the Government appointed member process.
– Draft and revise policies
– Responsible for financial transactions, budgeting, and reporting.
– Day to day operations
Dual role – duties of the registrar
– Responsible for registration process.
– Responds to complaints and engages the complaints and discipline committees when
required in accordance with the Act and By-laws.
– Serves as a director at the Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council (CMRC)<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS
\u25aa University degree and\/or previous experience working with a health care regulator.
\u25aa Experience working with or serving on Boards or Committees
\u25aa Knowledge of governance, fiduciary responsibilities, and boundaries
\u25aa Well-developed strategic leadership and planning
\u25aa Knowledge of midwifery in Canada
\u25aa Budgeting and financial management experience
\u25aa Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relation building skills
\u25aa Excellent organizational and management skills
\u25aa High level of personal initiative and working with integrity independently
\u25aa Strong computer skills
\u25aa Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.<\/p>\n
Knowledge of legislation and\/or health care regulation \u2013 asset
Experience working with government and stakeholders \u2013 asset<\/p>\n

SALARY
$45,000 – $55,000 per year<\/p>\n
