Position overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and inclusive leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of Canada’s first Alongside Midwifery Unit (AMU) and lead a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalist midwives. You will focus on practice enhancement, quality and safety, and financial and human resource management. As a role model, coach, and mentor, you will foster a positive organizational culture aligned with the program’s vision, mission, and goals.

In collaboration with medical professionals and practice representatives, you will also manage the Adult and Pediatric Diabetes programs, ensuring operational efficiency. You will be responsible for implementing policies, maintaining compliance with legislative and professional standards, managing budgets, and leading quality improvement and change initiatives. Additionally, you will develop human resource plans to meet current and future program needs.

As the AMU and Diabetes Manager, you will work closely with the Director of AMU and Childbirth & Children’s Services, the Lead Midwife, Chiefs of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Medicine, and other program managers and inter-professional teams, including nurses, physicians, midwives, allied health and professional practice leaders.

 

Work schedule:

Monday-Friday

Administrator on Call weeks 2-3/year.

Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.

 

Compensation:

BAND C

Range: $57.05 – $71.35
 
 
Responsibilities
Oversee operations of the AMU and Diabetes programs.
Manage budgets and financial performance.
Ensure quality care standards and compliance with regulations.
Mentor and support staff development and team effectiveness.
Lead change and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with inter-professional teams and other program leaders.
 
 
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of recent management experience in an acute healthcare setting.
At least 5 years as a clinical preceptor to midwifery students.
Proven experience leading inter-professional teams.
Research experience as a principal or co-investigator (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior midwives and learners.
Strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and other digital tools.
Familiarity with hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
Commitment to client- and family-centered care.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Experience leading organizational change and team development.
Strong human resource, financial, and information management skills.
Consistent attendance and performance records.
Own transportation and ability to travel between sites.
Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health and safety regulations.
