General Registrant/Locum/New Registrant Midwife

Stratford Midwives is a growing urban/rural practice with a large rural catchment area. Stratford is a beautiful city that offers affordable living, world class theatre and is the home of the Stratford Chef School which influences the caliber of great dining and contributes to our food-conscious city.

We are currently a very busy practice with part and full time midwives and have caseload for a full time General Registrant or New Registrant. We currently have funding in this fiscal year (2022/23) for a New Registrant and anticipate funding for a New Registrant in the next fiscal year. We also have BCCs for a General Registrant in this budget year. This position has good potential for the right candidate to become a permanent member, with opportunity for partnership. Flexibility allows you to work in a supported primary care model or team up in a shared care model. We encourage exploration of creative options for models of care that address the various needs of midwives in our group. We are committed to equity, flexibility and transparency and encourage shared decision-making among the group.

We have privileges at the Stratford General Hospital where medical inductions are a transfer of care. We enjoy collegial relationships with the obstetricians and other health care providers in our community and we participate actively in hospital committees including the MAC.
Our clientele includes people from the Amish and Mennonite communities and our catchment area includes Perth County, parts of Huron, Waterloo, Oxford and Middlesex Counties. Our home birth rate is typically above the provincial average at 20-25%.

We can offer some flexibility with the orientation, clinic and call start date and build caseload prior to the start date.
