Permanent midwife position

  • Sage-femme
  • Victoria, BC
  • Date limite de candidature: 2025-01-01

Site Roundhouse Midwives and Family Care

Roundhouse Midwives & Family care is a midwifery and primary care practice located in Victoria, BC. We are seeking to add 1-2 more permanent midwife practice partners to our team.

This position is suitable for a Registered Midwife who has completed their New Registrant year. Successful candidates must have general midwifery privileges from Victoria General Hospital (next recruitment round expected Spring 2024, check for recruitment postings here).

The candidate will be joining a two-person team, sharing clinic and call with another midwife. Caseload is flexible at around 3-4 clients per month per midwife. There is a very strong demand for midwifery care in this community.

Roundhouse Midwives is located on a five-acre farm just two blocks from our local maternity unit at Victoria General Hospital. VGH is a level three facility, and we enjoy collaborative relationships with our obstetric colleagues.

We currently have five Registered Midwives and a Nurse Practitioner in our group, and are supported by two excellent MOAs who provide full time support for our clinic and additional programs. We use OSCAR for office charting and Powerchart EMR in hospital.

Our farm property has a large, beautiful roundhouse where the clinic is located, and a small cottage which clients can rent for out-of-hospital birth. Approximately 20-30% of our clients plan out-of-hospital birth.

We not only provide maternity care but also collaborate with our Nurse Practitioner to offer longitudinal primary care at our practice. We are able to focus on serving equity-deserving populations, including those who are BIPOC, queer, or socially complex and facing barriers to accessing health care. We are the first RM-NP interdisciplinary practice as part of the Primary Care Network on Vancouver Island, and we are demonstrating that NPs and Midwives are part of the solution to the primary care crisis.

As a team, we value building community within ourselves and among our clients. We support each other to practice sustainably and regularly do team-building activities to enrich our relationships with one another and build upon our professional skills.

Please see our website for more about our practice: www.roundhousemidwives.com

Candidates from BIPOC or queer communities are especially encouraged to apply. Please direct your questions, CV and letter of interest to admin@roundhousemidwives.com.

We look forward to hearing from you. We hope you will consider joining us!
