Department Head of Midwifery

The Children’s Hospital and Women’s Health at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) invite applications for the position of Department Head of Midwifery.

The Department of Midwifery helps support approximately 1,259 births (2023) with 51 midwives.  It is built on the fundamental commitment of providing excellent clinical care to new mothers and babies.  We are looking for a new department head of midwifery that will build on this strong clinical presence and work collaboratively with both Children’s and Women’s Health.

The successful candidate is expected to be involved with the Executive Leadership Committee of LHSC.  They will participate in developing and implementing hospital strategies and participate in Master planning. The Department Head will commit to ensuring delivery of the highest quality of care, granting annual privileges and monitoring the code of conduct for all its members. They will be an exceptional leader with the vision to understand and develop the complex interrelationships between the clinical, teaching and research strengths of the Department in an evolving health care system.

LHSC is a tertiary health care complex, providing comprehensive care to a large and geographically extended population of approximately 1.2 million people, including London which has a metropolitan census of 530,000. One of Canada’s largest acute-care, research-intensive academic hospitals, with nearly 16,000 physicians, staff, students, scientists, and volunteers, LHSC is regarded for its exceptional patient care and health-care advancement through innovative partnerships, teaching excellence, breakthrough research and a rich history of national and international medical firsts.

The successful candidate must be an accomplished midwife and must be accredited with the College of Midwives of Ontario (CMO)

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Review of applicants will begin Jan 15, 2025. The anticipated start date is to be negotiated.
