Midwives in Quebec can now prescribe abortion pills and therefore offer comprehensive first trimester care, including medication abortion. Offering first-trimester abortion care by midwives increases access to this care, allows a larger population to benefit from midwifery services, and provides access to respectful, timely, supportive, culturally safe and inclusive care. Louise-Hélène and Isabelle will describe the implementation of a new abortion service in Quebec and share their experience in launching this care.
This session is the second of a series of community of practice events on abortion care which started in the fall of 2025 and will be running until the spring of 2027. Learn more about the series.
Although these sessions are primarily for CAM/NCIM members, people can be added on an individual basis. If you wish to participate and are not a CAM/NCIM member, please send a message to: vperrault@canadianmidwives.org
