LOCUM MIDWIFE

Family Health Midwives is seeking a Locum for a temporary  leave of one of our team members  with  flexible  start time ideally starting May 1, 2025,  with  opportunity for permanent employment and privileges if you are a good fit for our team.     New registrants are welcome to apply. 
Family Health Clinic was founded originally in 1983 as a Naturopathic Medical Clinic and added Registered Midwives in1998. The clinic is situated in central Langley ,in the Fraser Valley, a fast-growing area with many young families. The Fraser Valley is still quite rural with a variety of organic farms, wineries and markets, opportunities for horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, paddle boarding, close to camping, skiing and more! Langley is only 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver, for the perfect balance of city and country.
Family Health Midwives work in a small team model, with a shared caseload of 4  EDD’s per midwife. Our team is committed to maintaining a satisfying work/life balance, working 1 day of clinic and 2-3 days of call each week. The midwives enjoy 12-24hr shifts and 6 weeks of vacation/year is encouraged. Our team uses Juno/Oscar and electronic faxing and is well supported by an MOA 5 days/week (and She’s awesome). Working within a Naturopathic environment offers an opportunity to learn about naturopathic medicine and pregnancy.
The successful candidate will initially be eligible for locum privileges or new registrant privileges  through the Fraser Health Authority and there is an opportunity to apply for permanent privileges . Our primary site is Langley Memorial Hospital.
The midwives enjoy many repeat clients and a home birth rate of 20-25 %. The midwives work closely and collaboratively with a small group of local specialists and feel very fortunate to have such a positive and supportive work environment in their local hospital!
We are a very supportive team who communicate well and value respect and teamwork. We are generally very flexible around scheduling and believe strongly in not tolerating bullying within healthcare. We have an excellent and fair system for allocation of pay based on a points system. All of the team are practitioners with many years of experience and would be happy to support a new graduate or a bridging graduate.
