The Maxxine Wright Community Health Center are seeking midwives interested in full-time work in Surrey, BC. The clinic provides full wrap-around medical supports for women and children with complex needs. If you are interested in part-time options, the hiring team is adaptable to your work needs.

What are the details?

The workload is variable, however averages 3-5 births per month per midwife. Babies are delivered at Surrey Memorial Hospital, approximately 5 minutes away from the clinic.

What makes you a good fit?

  • You are a registered midwife in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, or are eligible for registration.
  • You are a member of the Midwives Association of British Columbia.
  • You possess Surrey Memorial Hospital Privileges or meet the criteria to apply for privileges with the support of our team.
  • You are deeply motivated to make a difference in the lives of women who are impacted by substance use and/or abuse/violence.
  • You have a keen interest in program development and community building.
  • You understand the importance of decolonizing health care and providing trauma-informed care.
  • You have the curiosity and creativity to redefine the boundaries of midwifery care.

What is the vision for Midwifery at Maxxine Wright?

The team at Maxxine Wright is dedicated to providing exceptional care for the mothers we serve. To do so, the Midwifery Program is expanding to hire 2 Full-time Midwives, embedded in a multi-disciplinary team of nurse practitioners, nurses, counsellors, doulas and much more. Another intention for the Midwife program is to provide more work-life balance for midwives as more positions are recruited.
