- Genesis Midwives seeking a 1yr locum from May 1 2023-June 1 2024 to cover a maternity leave, with a strong possibility of full time work in the future.
We are a group of five experienced, reputable midwives who offer a full client caseload and positive working relationships at Grand River Hospital. We work in shared care model with a week on call and a week of off call/clinic. Each midwife enjoys 10 weeks of vacation time/year.
We are a diverse group of midwives serving a diverse community. We are committed to low intervention birth, in both the home and hospital settings. Our current scope includes epidural, with oxytocin management coming soon. As a smaller practice we work together to support our individual pursuits and adequate time off.
Our ideal midwife is hard working, flexible, organized and experienced. She balances her intelligence with humour, patience and compassion. She has strong clinical skills and an ability to work confidently with a broad cross section of clients in both home and hospital settings. She is committed to working in a low intervention model, with research and informed choice forming the foundation of her work. She trusts women and the birth process. She may have experience with oxytocin induction and /or augmentation, and epidural management, but these are not essential. She is committed to lifelong learning as a midwife and a person. Enjoying a good cup of coffeeor tea and a good story is an asset!
The Kitchener Waterloo community is vibrant, and diverse, and it is an excellent location, offering a wonderful variety of opportunities. Between 40-90 minutes from Toronto, Hamilton, Niagara, Stratford, London, Barrie and the US border, and with virtually no traffic heading north to cottage country this is an ideal location for those with family or friends around the South Western Ontario region.
