Orillia Midwives — OSMH — Mamaway BANAC

Pilot Project to fill reproductive needs in Simcoe Muskoka Parry

Orillia Midwives in partnership with Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Mamaway BANAC

Has a full time midwifery position for a pilot project. We have funding for the next year and we have high hopes the funding will continue.

The position is to fill gaps in reproductive and newborn care in the Simcoe-Muskoka-Parry Sound Region. We expect this midwife will:

Sleep in her own bed every night
Do clinic around the region for: Early pregnancy care, contraception, abortion, perinatal mental health
Possibly RSV catch-up clinics
Supporting midwifery practices
There is space to use your imagination for things you see as gaps
There will likely be on-call but it will be primarily for people who have/are having miscarriages and abortions which means you won’t leave your bed. There is no birth work.
The project is based in Orillia but you can live in the greater region.  We expect a lot of the work will be done Muskoka and North as this is the area of highest need.

This project is fully funded for the year. That means your team includes Orillia Midwives, hospital support, full-time admin, and education is available for Mifegymiso, ultrasound, Behavioural Activation, IUDs, Nexplanon, etc.

The project also has equipment including an ultrasound machine, bilimeter, speculums, etc, etc.

I can hear you asking:

Is this an EMCM? Not technically. It is funded through the Equity branch of the Ministry through the Women and Children’s Health Network.

The catch? The funding starts now and ends next April (hopefully we show proof of concept and it continues). We need someone ASAP.

Come meet us!
