Website Rosehips Midwifery
Rosehips Midwifery is hiring Registered Midwives to join our practice on the territories of the Lekwungen-speaking People (Victoria, BC).
We are looking for midwives interested in providing care with our unique, collaborative, postpartum-only team.
Rosehips Midwifery is also seeking to add a solo, or small team of full scope (prenatal/intrapartum/postpartum) midwives.
Please email us your letter of interest and CV to email@example.com
Rosehips Midwifery currently consists of two postpartum-only midwifery teams serving patients who would otherwise be unattached in their postpartum period. Referrals come directly from an emergency clinic set up at Victoria General Hospital to serve the basic needs of a growing number of patients who have been unable to find a primary perinatal care provider in their pregnancy, or who have transferred in for tertiary care from a rural or remote hospital. Sadly, there is a dire lack of midwives and FPOBs in our city, and the number of unattached clients is growing massively every month. Through the Spring and Summer, each postpartum midwife could easily take 10 postpartum courses of care per month or more, if desired, and there are more than enough patients who need care to support multiple full scope midwives taking on a full caseload.
Our team also consists of a clinical counselor (MSW) who is also a Registered Midwife, and two experienced RM/IBCLCs, making us an accessible, wrap-around service.
We are looking for midwives to join our practice who are, above all, kind and compassionate. We value folks who have a heart full of social justice, and who love providing accessible, non-judgmental care for people from all walks of life. Providing safe care for queer and trans clients is a priority for us. We also frequently work with Herway Home, a wrap-around perinatal care program serving pregnant folks with Substance Use Disorder, and this work brings us joy. Comfort around medical complexity is an asset, although we are well supported by our OB colleagues at Victoria General Hospital. You do not need to be an expert in these things, merely excited to learn. We encourage IBPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ folks to apply, and if it serves you, please let us know in your cover letter.
Rosehips Midwifery is located in a medical office tower in the Oaklands neighbourhood of Victoria, and is accessible by bike, bus, or car. There is free parking available at our clinic. The clinic space is newly renovated and is midwife-owned. Best of all, it has a lovely patio if eating lunch outside makes you happy!
The postpartum team would be willing to provide emergency coverage and time off for a solo midwife, and back up call for a small team for sleep protection. We value sustainability in this demanding work! Please let us know in your cover letter if you prefer postpartum-only, supported solo, or team-based practice.
We currently use JaneApp for our EMR, which suits our needs for postpartum/IBCLC care, however, we will happily switch to Juno/Acuro/OSCAR EMR when we find the right full scope midwife(wives) to join our team. You will be supported by a wonderful medical office administrator.
The successful candidates must be willing to apply for and obtain privileges at Victoria General Hospital. There will are several positions available, with interviews taking place in the coming months. Interested parties are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. See posting for privileges here: https://medicalstaff.islandhealth.ca/node/6256
People applying for postpartum-only positions will not necessarily need to have privileges right away, as they can still do home and clinic visits, however it is still preferable for the candidate to apply to become fully privileged.
