The Canadian Association of Midwives is pleased to announce that its annual midwifery conference will be in person this year. This celebrated conference will be in Ottawa, October 4, 5 and 6 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Ottawa City Centre.
Join keynote speakers Katsi Cook, Manava Handa, Valerie Gideon, Associate Deputy Minister, Indigenous Services Canada, and more for some stirring talks about the future of midwifery in Canada and around the world.
Other topics from some of our 53 speakers and panelists include the role of midwives in abortion care, how to recognize and respond to family violence, and how we can enhance networking opportunities for midwives. There is also a special panel on the intersection of sexual & reproductive health and climate change.

Other sessions that really stand out are a special 2-hour workshop entitled CMRC Midwifery Competencies Appendix Review. This session will expand and adapt the indicators and elements in the Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council Midwifery Competency Appendix to identify relevant content for Indigenous clients, racialized clients, migrants, clients with disabilities, under-housed clients, 2SLGTBQIA+ clients, youth and other underserved groups.

The other very special session is a 4-hour in-person Emergency Skills Certification Pre-Conference Workshop. In small groups of 3 you’ll go through the entire course and be ready to take your exam.
