Call for Interest: CAM’s Board of Directors’ Advisory Councils 

Are you interested in participating in CAM’s new Governance structure? Have an impact on midwifery in Canada, acquire new leadership skills, work with a diverse group of midwives from across the country, be a part of the exciting changes coming to CAM.  

The Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) is seeking members and other qualified candidates who are interested in joining the Clinical Excellence Advisory Council (CEAC) and the Global Programs Advisory Council (GPAC) of the Board of Directors. These Advisory Councils play a vital role in supporting CAM in achieving its intended impact, and ensuring the Board’s structure aligns with organizational values and reflects the diversity of lived experiences, identities, and skills of its members. 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ADVISORY COUNCILS: 

  1. Provide strategic input to CAM’s Board of Directors, 
  1. Provide input and recommendations to CAM staff, and 
  1. Promote and uphold CAM’s mission, organizational values and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) principles in all Council activities, decision-making processes, and recommendations. 

TIME COMMITMENT: 

Each Advisory Council meets approximately four (4) times per year by videoconference. Each member’s term will be set at two (2) years; terms may be renewed.

CLINICAL EXCELLENCE ADVISORY COUNCIL (CEAC) 

GLOBAL PROGRAMS ADVISORY COUNCIL (GPAC) 

 ADVISORS: 

For the CEAC, Advisory members should represent a diverse set of perspectives, including: 

  • Experts in midwifery and sexual and reproductive health (SRH), health promotion, accreditation, instructional design, public health or quality assurance, 
  • Individuals with lived and/or professional experience in rural, remote or Northern regions and communities,  
  • Midwives or professionals working in expanded scope or a variety of practice models and settings  

For the GPAC, Advisory members should represent a diverse set of perspectives, including: 

  • Individuals with expertise in global health, international development, midwifery and/or sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) relevant to CAM’s programming, and 
  • Individuals with lived or professional experience in low- and middle-income countries or communities that align with CAM’s programming.
