May 26, 2026 : 12 – 1 pm ET
Please note this workshop will be conducted in French. Simultaneous interpreation into English will be available.
This presentation takes the form of a panel discussion on the topic of abortion. Catherine St-Cyr, a family physician, along with Mélina Castonguay and Valérie Perrault, midwives, will discuss how to view abortion as a normal and routine aspect of healthcare. What perspectives and information enable us to support midwives in providing abortion care? We will explore the motivations for frontline professionals (midwives or family physicians) to engage with the issue of abortion care. Additionally, we will discuss and attempt to debunk certain persistent myths that hinder access to or the quality of abortion care.
All questions are welcome. Note: This presentation does NOT address the right to access this care, but rather the quality of care provided by frontline professionals during the pregnancy termination process.
This session is part of a series of lunchtime lectures on care related to pregnancy termination that began in the fall of 2025 and will continue through the spring of 2027. Although these sessions are primarily intended for ACSF/NCIM members, individuals may also attend. If you would like to participate and are not a member of the ACSF/NCIM, please send an email to vperrault@canadianmidwives.org.
