Live webinar: Sept 23, 12-1 pm ET
This webinar explores moral distress and moral injury within abortion care and introduces Conscientious Care as a philosophy and ethical framework for midwifery practice. Join Ruby Shanker, Clinical and Organizational Ethicist with University Health Network’s Toronto Rehab and Women’s College Hospital, for a reflexive exploration of approaches that support ethical reflection, professional resilience and interprofessional collaboration.
Participants will consider how clinicians and teams can navigate morally complex experiences while centering the needs, rights and experiences of clients, and will leave with practical ways to reflect on the ethical dimensions of abortion care and broader commitments to reproductive justice.
Ruby Shanker is a Clinical and Organizational Ethicist with University Health Network’s Toronto Rehab and Women’s College Hospital, with previous clinical experience in surgery and community medicine in India and West Asia. Ruby is also a PhD candidate in the Health Professions Education Research Program at the University of Toronto.
