The CAM Conference 2023 is Here

The Canadian Association of Midwives is pleased to announce that its annual midwifery conference will be in person this year. This celebrated conference will be in Ottawa, October 4, 5 and 6 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Ottawa City Centre.

Join keynote speakers Katsi Cook, Manava Handa, Valerie Gideon, Associate Deputy Minister, Indigenous Services Canada, and more for some stirring talks about the future of midwifery in Canada and around the world.

Other topics from some of our 53 speakers and panelists include the role of midwives in abortion care, how to recognize and respond to family violence, and how we can enhance networking opportunities for midwives. There is also a special panel on the intersection of sexual & reproductive health and climate change.

You can access the full schedule here: Choose [By Room] for the best viewing experience.

Other sessions that really stand out are a special 2-hour workshop entitled CMRC Midwifery Competencies Appendix Review.  This session will expand and adapt the indicators and elements in the Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council Midwifery Competency Appendix to identify relevant content for Indigenous clients, racialized clients, migrants, clients with disabilities, under-housed clients, 2SLGTBQIA+ clients, youth and other underserved groups.

There are only 30 spots available for the CMRC workshop so make sure you register here. It’s a $0 ticket (nothing will be charged to your card).

The other very special session is a 4-hour in-person Emergency Skills Certification Pre-Conference Workshop. In small groups of 3 you’ll go through the entire course and be ready to take your exam. This special ESW Workshop is happening Wednesday October 4, 1-5pm and is limited to just 12 people in total (4 groups of 3). This unique in-person training opportunity costs just $395 for the 4-hour course, your own copy of the manual and the exam. Register for the workshop here

Rounding out the conference line up is a sold-out exhibit hall with 25 tables of the latest innovations and products, and our the famous dance-party (included in your conference ticket this year!) We hope you can join us and the 300+ other attendees in Ottawa, October 4, 5 and 6 for what will certainly be a wonderful conference.

Please note that there will be no streaming content for the conference this year and no recordings will be available. To enjoy the conference experience, please join us in person.
