Website Midwives Collective of Toronto
Midwives Collective of Toronto is seeking a General Registrant to join our practice. We are flexible with the start date and will do our best to accommodate the right candidate. We are actively recruiting a permanent member of our team but are open to supporting a locum for a minimum duration of 9 months with the possibility of extension if mutually agreeable between candidate and practice.
We encourage candidates who identify as IBPOC, who speak multiple languages and/or those who have varied personal and professional experiences to apply. We value a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
We are a large feminist practice group working together to provide consistent and evidence-based care. We are invested in mentoring newer midwives to develop a strong clinical foundation in a non-judgmental manner and we encourage midwives in their first 5 years of practice to apply. MCT midwives are encouraged to participate in practice-related non-clinical work as needed (e.g.: sitting on the Toronto Birth Centre midwives’ council, providing workshops for community groups, etc.) as well as initiatives and projects of their own.
We make decisions collaboratively as a group and strive to create a supportive and engaged work environment. We work together to further our learning and collaboration, including regular anti-racism and anti-oppression training throughout the year.
We value continuity of care for our clients. The midwives in our practice work in both shared and primary call models. The new GR would ideally work in a week on/week off call model (doing clinic either both on & off weeks or only during off-call week, per their preference) and take on a ¾ caseload. However, if this does not reflect your desired call model or caseload, we still encourage you to apply, as we are open trying to accommodate the caseload and call model needs of the right candidate. We provide opportunities for time off in December and summer months that is equitably distributed.
We have privileges at Mount Sinai Hospital and work to a full scope, managing labours with epidurals as well as induction/augmentation. We have an excellent working relationship with the OBs and nurses at MSH and are collaborating with OBs on specific projects to better serve underserved communities in Toronto, including a collaboration with the Hospital for Sick Children Young Parents Program. We attend many births at the Toronto Birth Centre and enjoy an active home birth practice.
